Church of the Good Shepherd

The Episcopal Church in Rangeley, Maine

From Bishop Brown

Effective immediately, based on the Bishops recommendation, there will be no Sunday Service at the Church of the Good Shepherd until further notice!

Every faith community in the Diocese of Maine should suspend in-person worship, formation programs, and governance meetings until further notice (as of today, the Centers for Disease Control recommends against gatherings of 50 or more for the next eight weeks). However, we are not closing our churches: in fact, I encourage our congregations to explore options for providing limited access to our buildings for individual and private prayer (within the safe parameters of CDC guidelines).

Community Groups

Good Shepherd Church is frequently used by Rangeley Region community groups.

Snowmobile Club dinners, painting classes, Winter Senior Social luncheons hosted by Rangeley Health and Wellness, and other activities regularly use our Undercroft and kitchen.

Our beautiful lawn by the lake is a perfect venue for Qi Gong and festivals including the annual Blueberry Festival and Maine Forestry Museum’s Apple Festival during Oktoberfest.

The annual Walk to Bethlehem, Rangeley Friends of the Arts, the Rangeley Community Chorus, and others often use our Sanctuary because of its excellent acoustics.

Call the church office for space and time availability (207.864.3381). An approved facilities use form is required to use our building and/or grounds.

We request building use donations (to offset cleaning and building care) as follows:

  • $200 per event for fundraisers;
  • $100 per event for non-fundraisers;
  • $25 per event for small groups (15 and under).
  • From October 1 to April 1 add $10 each use to defray fuel costs.

Community groups are welcome to meet in our church building, and include:

Alcoholics Anonymous

Contact the specific community group or call the church office (207.864.3381) for meeting times.
